Gene Line Talks about A New Car Company "Tesla Motors"

Gene Line - About "Tesla Motors"

Cars We All Must Agree On This

Whether you‘re more concerned about global warming or about national security, there’s one thing we can probably agree on: our dependence on oil is dangerous and costly.

Right now 58 percent of our oil comes from other countries, so it’s practically inevitable our foreign policy principles will be held ransom by our need to maintain domestic economic stability. When you consider that 68 percent of our oil is used for transportation, Tesla believe’s gasoline-free cars are an ideal solution to these issues. Even a hybrid car, which still burns gasoline and emits carbon dioxide, doesn’t solve our oil-related problems, it just postpones them. If you look hard at the numbers, it’s clear that an electric car is the cleanest and most efficient kind of car in existence. Tesla has done exhaustive “well to wheel” energy and emissions analyses, and the numbers are undeniable.

While the Tesla Roadster’s sticker price is in a league with other high-performance teslasports cars with similar specs, they recognize it’s out of reach for a lot of people. Tesla consciously chose to develop a high-end sports car as our first car in order to develop the “performance DNA” from which they could create other electric vehicles. There next model will leverage the Tesla Roadster‘s technology, resulting in a less expensive sports sedan that they can sell at higher volume.

Gene Line — The “Almost” Forgotten Energy “Solar Cars”

Gene Line - The “Almost” Forgotten Energy “Solar Cars”

Absorption of the solar energy by atmospheric convection, evaporation and condensation of the water vapor powers the worldwide water cycles and determines and drives wind streams. Solar energy converted into chemical energy via photosynthesis produces food, wood and the biomass from which fossil fuels are derived. Solar radiation and sunlight, with the addition of the a variety of the solar resources, accounts for 99.9% of the renewable energy on Earth! The available stores of the solar energy accessible in the natural environment way beyond sufficient in comparison to current human energy needs.

Solar energy technologies and other technologies that use sunlight and secondary solar resources are critical to the current green/cleantech revolution.

Technologies using solar energy, such as photovoltaic’s and water heaters increase the supply of the energy while technologies including passive design and shading devices reduce the need for alternate resources and may be characterized as demand side. Enhancing the performance of the solar technologies have become massive projects for governments and alternative energy companies who have established niche markets for products, services, and expertise. These solar technologies are currently being developed in conjunction with automobile manufacturers to revolutionize the resources available for personal and mass transportation.

Solar power technologies convert sunlight into electricity using photovoltaic’s, solar thermal devices, or a plethora of the experimental technologies. A solar cell, or PV cell, is a device that converts light into direct current to generate power for small and medium-sized devices. For example, the calculator is powered by a single solar cell, but massive increases in demands for alternative energy sources are revealing trends worldwide toward the construction of the larger photovoltaic power stations.

The high cost of the solar cells limited development and production in the early stages of the this emerging technology. Recent applications of the solar energy have proven very successful. Energy shortages such as the 1973 Oil Crisis and the current rise in price of the oil have shifted government resources to pursue solar energy as a legitimate alternative energy source. Over the past decade the United States, Japan and Germany have provided the infusion of the funding and support for research and development of the solar power. France, Italy, and South Korea have followed with programs and critical funding for solar energy research.

A solar vehicle is an electric vehicle powered by solar energy obtained from solar panels on the surface of the vehicle. At present, solar powered vehicles are not practical for day-to-day transportation. The creation of the a viable everyday solar powered automobile has been an engineering challenge for several decades. The center of the this development is the World Solar Challenge, a biannual solar-powered car race in which teams from universities and enterprises compete over 3,021 kilometers, or1,877 miles, across central Australia.

The research and development of the solar cars has resulted in technology and engineering utilized from industries including, but not limited to aerospace, bicycle, alternative energy, and automotive technology. At present the design of a solar vehicle is severely limited by accessibility and storage of the energy, via solar panels and solar energy, needed to power such a vehicle. To date, solar cars are still in developmental stages and though they contain many of the features available to drivers of the traditional vehicles of the ten contain space for only a driver and one passenger.

In the solar car the battery pack plays the identical role of the a petrol tank in a normal car. The battery pack stores power, or fuel, for future use. Solar cars use a range of the batteries including lead-acid batteries, nickel-metal hydride batteries (NiMH), Nickel-Cadmium batteries (NiCd), Lithium ion batteries and Lithium polymer batteries.

The mechanical systems of the a solar car are specially designed and manufacture red to keep friction and gross weight to a minimum while maximizing strength and durability. Designers predominantly use titanium and composite materials to ensure a good strength-to-weight ratio.

The Venturi AstroLab has been highly regarded as the world ’s first commercial solar hybrid car due for release in January 2008. In May 2007 Canadian-based Hymotion altered a Toyota Prius to use solar cells to generate up to 240 watts of the electrical power in full sunshine.

Realistic applications for solar powered vehicles currently includes golf carts and a variety of the single passenger vehicles for elderly and handicapped. An independent entrepreneur and inventor has built a street legal, licensed and insured, solar charged electric scooter. The scooter designed for single occupancy has a top speed controlled at just over 30 miles per hour, and uses several fold-out solar panels to charge the batteries while parked.

Auto manufacturers and leading designers and engineers are refining leading prototypes for road-worthy automobiles by 2012.

Gene Line writes about — Nascar — Tony Stewart — Joe Gibbs

Gene Line writes about — Nascar — Tony Stewart — Joe Gibbs

It looks like that Tony Stewart will leave Joe Gibbs Racing following the 2008 Sprint Cup season, as he will buy into the fledgling Haas CNC Racing operation. Stewart signed with Joe Gibbs Racing in 1998 and began driving the orange number 20 Home Depot car in 1999. He won three races, captured the Rookie of the Year title, and most significantly, he sparked a trend in which rookie drivers immediately emerged as winners. In fact, since Stewart’s rookie campaign, a rookie has won a race in every season except 2004 and 2008, and the season is at its halfway point.

Stewart’s burning desire to be the man in charge has lured him in a different direction. He has an appealing personality for sponsors, and he is a successful team owner in the World of Outlaws. Also, he has created one of the most entertaining exhibition charitable race at his track in Eldora, the Prelude to a Dream. Stewart’s latest endeavor will no doubt be the most arduous task he will undertake.

Haas CNC Racing is upside down right now as the current owner and founder, Gene Haas, is serving a jail sentence for fraud. The organization has a seven-post rig, and other valuable R&D tools, as well as engine support from Hendrick Motorsports. However, they have yet to capitalize on those tools. Sponsorship has always been an issue at Haas CNC. With Stewart on board, sponsors and key personnel will jump on board, as well as a high-profile driver. Ryan Newman is the leading candidate, as he is the second best free agent behind Stewart himself. Newman is a 13-time race-winner, 1,000-time pole winner, and he boasts a Daytona 500 and All-Star trophy.

Martin Truex, Jr. and Brad Keselowski are two additional options, but it appears that Truex, Jr. may remain at DEI, and Keselowski told ESPN during last week’s Nationwide Series race that he will drive for JR Motorsports in 2009.

Stewart and Newman will endure growing pains in 2009, and the season may begin a little sluggish. Nevertheless, Stewart and Newman are significant upgrades from Scott Riggs and Johnny Sauter/Jason Leffler. Office Depot and Jack Daniel’s are rumored sponsors for Stewart’s new team. For Stewart as a performing driver, this is a downgrade from Joe Gibbs Racing, which is one of NASCAR’s powerhouse teams. It may take years for Stewart to build a championship caliber team. In fact, Joe Gibbs Racing won their first championship in 2000, nine years after the team was established.

For Newman, it seems to be a lateral move, as Penske Racing has underachieved in recent years. It could be a marginal upgrade, but that remains to be seen.

Perhaps Stewart’s desire to associate himself with General Motorsports prompted this move. Joe Gibbs stated that he would help Stewart start his own team, but it would have to be a team that fields Toyotas.
